Ares

Ares, the Japanese flatland company brought to the table one of the first reliable and reasonably priced free-coasters. It is made by Taska. A shootout between the Ares and the KHE Geisha (the Ares had already been released for a while, and the KHE was new, so you must allow a little slack for Ares) placed the Ares just behind the KHE overall, and above Nankai. The one short coming is that it uses a 3/8” axle.

Here’s the list:

  • 36h or 48h
  • 9t driver
  • Similar spring design to the Taska
  • Sealed Bearings
  • 16.19 oz (making it the lightest hub without modification.
  • Alloy nuts
  • Black or deep brown.
