G-sport

G-sport is one of the most respected companies in BMX today. George French, the owner and designer of G-sport has worked very hard promoting his hubs. They gained great notoriety throughout the BMX community for their incredible strength and innovative designing. A couple years ago, G-sport became part of the Odyssey BMX family. This finally allowed G (that’s George) to be able to produce products that he has been kicking around in his head for quite some time now. As we have seen, this has led to some great products (Elementary stem, Wombolt Cranks, Ribcage rims...). The agreement with Odyssey was that G and Chris and Ben (of Odyssey) would work on new designs for the family. Products that fell under the wheel category (rims, spokes, pegs, hubs, etc.) would be under the G-sport name. While all other products would be considered Odyssey. Anyway, the time has finally come where G announced that he is working on a free-coaster design, and it will most likely be released sometime in the future...

G had the coaster laced up and on his bike at Interbike (the biking industry’s premier trade show).

Gsport Coaster

So this section will be devoted to the updates of the Hub. This is all speculation. Odyssey/G-sport has said that some of it is wrong::

  • · 36 or 48h
  • · LHD or RHD
  • · 10t driver
  • · Hand-adjustable slack
  • · G-sport style bolts
  • · Sealed Bearing
  • · Tension (resistance in the driver) will be adjustable
  • · Simple/Fiddly internals
